Always in Vogue – Enduring cosmetic appearance medicine and plastic surgery procedures

September 22, 2026

Not every trend sticks, particularly when it comes to the face and body – thank goodness. From Venetian whiting powder, to radiating skin with radium, to hourglass bodies formed by rib-shattering corsets and hairless bodies created from hours of X-ray exposure, the historical list of lethal body-wide aesthetic practises is extensive, yikes! Nowadays, fortunately, we are less focused on the extreme and more attuned to cosmetic procedures and treatments that will effectively – and safely – work within the bounds of our individual anatomy and serve us for the long-term. Enduring is the word on the street . . .

Deep-Plane Facelift . . .

A Deep-Plane facelift is focused on the Superficial Musculoaponeurotic System (SMAS) where plastic surgeons lift and reposition underlying muscles, utilising techniques that incorporate the fat and sheaths of tissue underneath the skin. This involves using stiches to tighten the connective tissue enveloping the muscles of the midface and neck, or alternately, the underside of the muscles. A Deep-Plane facelift supports the deeper structures, preserving the skin’s mobility. The result? Much more multi-dimensional in form, with greater tightness and lift, coupled with enhanced volume and contour to the cheeks, and greater definition of the jawline and a firmer neck.

Energy-based Skin Tightening Treatments . . .

Skin tightening treatments, like Renuvion and Sofwave, are firm favourites globally for good reason . . .

Sofwave – the complete facial rejuvenation package. From greater lift in the eyebrow region, to the delicate skin under and around the eyes, to laughter lines, neck and jawline, Sofwave tightens the skin, reduces sagging and enhances volume face wide. Because we lose volume in our faces and neck, due to depleting collagen and elastin levels as we age, Sofwave works to gently accelerate the production of new cells, gifting the skin greater boost and contour for the long-term.

Renuvion – For mild to moderate skin laxity from top to toe, Renuvion is on hand. Engaging unique lithium helium plasma technology and radio frequency, the skin tightening wand is placed under the skin of the area to be treated. Energy from the radio frequency heats tissues beneath the skin, causing them to contract and stimulating collagen production, the helium plasma quickly kicks into action to cool the area – this dual effect makes the process safer and controlled.

Liposuction . . .

Liposuction has maintained its top position as an in demand cosmetic surgery procedure for good reason – it does what it sets out to achieve. Not a weight loss procedure by any means, liposuction swoops in to eliminate those high-density alpha receptor fat cells. In places like the hips, buttocks, stomach and thighs we have a higher population of a-2 receptors, which in inhibit fat burning and are metabolically resistant to dieting. Liposuction permanently destroys these fat cells, thus reducing our count, and reshaping and smoothening the treated area.

Blepharoplasty . . .

Ridding ‘the tired look’, restoring youthfulness, balance and facial harmony is what blepharoplasty is adept at. An upper or lower blepharoplasty both enhance and balance. Upper lid surgery removes sagging skin, and excess fatty tissue and muscle, and gently lifts. A lower blepharoplasty removes and repositions the fat/skin beneath the eyes. Whilst there is more than one surgical approach, typically fat is removed from inside the lower lid so there is no external scarring.

Abdominoplasty . . .

Tummy tuck aims to correct sagging, remove excess skin, support underlying tissues, and better proportion and smooth out lumps and bumps. Surgeons engage techniques to release skin from the lower part of the abdomen up to the belly – this allows for greater muscle tightening and flattening of the midsection. The skin is then re-draped and trimmed, and belly button restored.
