More than skin deep

More than skin deep

With a never ending online, onscreen and in-print barrage of beautiful faces beaming at us, having not just good, but great skin has become increasingly desirable. But has it become more achievable? There have certainly been significant advancements in the treatment of skin conditions, from skin cancers through to psoriasis, eczema to acne and everything in between. But with seemingly unreal expectations conveyed as the norm, this apparent standard of a vibrant, hydrated and blemish free facade brings pressures of its own.

Our dermatologist, Dr Amy Stanway, deals with men, women and children of all ages in her practice. Irrespective of gender or age, some skin conditions are painful, irritating and ongoing. Some are not, but if visible, can contribute to embarrassment and a desire to avoid face to face contact from the fear of having to explain the condition, or to be on the end of unwelcome  looks.  Dr Stanway is well aware of the effects this may have on her patients' self-esteem, that it can go more than skin deep. "Effectively treating blemishes, cancers and rashes goes a long way towards relieving the stress of skin problems." Working alongside her colleages, Plastic Surgeons Mr Bialostocki and Mr Adams, you can rest assured you and your skin will receive the best outcome possible as a pateint of Dr Stanway.
