Fat grafting, a great option

Fat grafting, a great option

Fat transfer, or grafting, is commonly used in breast reconstruction, to add symmetry and volume in the shaping of the breast. The technique can be used for total breast reconstruction, breast augmentation, buttock augmentation (Brazilian butt lift), facial fat grafting for lips and during face lifting. The fat can be taken from anywhere someone has excess, usually the tummy, waist, love handles, or insides of the thighs. Depending on the amount of fat required, liposuction may be used. Some bruising may result which settles within a couple of weeks. The fat transfer to the new area is permanent, with about 70% of the transferred fat surviving. After about three months, a pateint is able to have another fat graft to the same area, to add more volume if required. The first round of fat acts as a supportive scaffold to help the second round of fat survive. Interested in learning more? Talk to our Plastic Surgeons, Mr Adam Bialostocki and Mr Brandon Adams.
